Who can apply?

  • Q. Who can make an application?

    • Applications must be made by a suitable third party such as a social worker, health visitor, doctor, school teacher, faith leader, other registered charitable organisations (e.g. Save The Children) or group working within the community (e.g. Gingerbread). Please remember in making an application you accept the conditions of the fund for any award made.

  • Q. Can I make the application for myself or on behalf of another person?

    • The fund does not accept applications from individuals applying for themselves or on behalf of others.

 

Who will we help?

  • Q. How old does a child need to be for an application to be considered by the fund?

    • The fund covers children from birth to and including the age of 18.

  • Q. Can I apply if I am over eighteen years old?

    • No. The fund will make awards for children and young people up to 18 years of age.

  • Q. Who is the application for?

    • The application must be made for a child or children.

  • Q. Can I send an application even if the baby has not been born yet?

    • Do not send an application if a baby has not yet been born. Send the application form in after the baby is born.

  • Q. I am under 18 and I am pregnant. Can the fund help me with maternity clothes?

    • Yes.

  • Q. I want to ask for help towards a holiday. Can you help me?

    • The fund may offer assistance with holidays costs for any children who are going on holiday. Remember: the holiday must be within the United Kingdom.

  • Q. Can the fund pay for travel costs?

    • In some circumstances yes but only for children between 5 and 18 years.

  • Q. My washing machine is broken. Can you help?

    • SWAN funds does not make awards for white goods (e.g. washing machines etc.). However, you can contact the Frank Buttle Trust, who do deal with applications in white goods.
